Acerca de esta escucha

[Contains explicit content] Dark Web technology has spawned a new kind of extortion and it targets our most trusted institutions — the police, the health service and local governance. Ransomware hold entire computer servers hostage until a ransom is paid.

Channel 4 News's former Technology Reporter, Geoff White, sifts through the records of attacks and tries to make sense of the very corporate franchise model the blackmailers are using.

This episode basically talks about the cyber ransoming that takes place when ransomware would take over the computer network of an organization or government operation and would then ransom that network for bitcoin. I remember hearing about this on the news, hearing the details about it is enthralling.

they managed to turn ransomware into a business. shaking my head in astonishment. I know this is a bit dated but the fact still remains that this is still a prevalent and un checked situation by law enforcement.

I chose this podcast because I didn’t know anything about the dark web, or even if it existed. I do believe now that it does. As with most things, there is good and bad-very bad-uses for it. I enjoyed the episodic format, 10 total, each lasting about 25 minutes. I thought the info was well presented. I know now as much as I want to know about the dark web.
