In this episode, Sam and Will walk through the early part of Jonah and why Jonah wanted nothing to do with Nineveh and the Assyrians. You will hear why the Assyrians were seen as especially wicked, and why Jonah resisted God’s mission. We also talk about God’s mercy and grace, and how Jonah tried to run in the opposite direction toward Tarshish. Then we follow the story on the ship, the violent storm, and how the sailors responded when they realized Jonah was running from his God. Finally, we cover Jonah being thrown overboard, the storm stopping, the sailors worshiping Jonah’s God, and Jonah being swallowed by a sea creature where he prays and repents. If you have ever tried to avoid what God is calling you to do, this is a reminder that God can pursue you, and He can use even storms to bring people to faith. If this helped you understand Jonah more clearly, share this with someone who is learning the Bible. Like, comment, and subscribe for more.
