For most of us growing up, knowing your cricket did matter, but India’s most popular sport was never a professional option for young fans. To understand this, we sit down with Sidhartha Vaidhyanathan, cricket writer, author and podcaster to discuss how a regular Bengaluru huduga like himself went on to make this a profession and rub shoulders with global sports stars.. Part of the team that launched ESPN’s digital magazine – The Cricket Monthly, he’s contributed to various publications including the Guardian, Forbes, AOL, The Hindu, Indian Express, India Today, and more. He’s also at the forefront when it comes to reviving forgotten cricket literature through 81allout publishing and talking cricket on a delightfully named podcast called 81allout.

A Finalist for the Restless Books Prize for Immigrant Writing (2018), Sidvee is currently based in the United States. We use the time today to listen to his journey, get a feel of what it takes to be a cricket writer, talk to him about the 90s, Test Cricket, Bangalore, RCB, Seattle, life & more.
