Acerca de esta escucha

This (almost) 100 year history of ASD is something that deserves to be shouted from the rooftops and taught in every history class across the world. Until then, share this episode with everyone around you. Autism awareness simply isn't enough- autistic people unapologetically deserve acceptance and advocacy. Talking about the past is just the start. Let's all do our part to make sure autistic voices and experiences are amplified, respected, and taken into consideration when making decisions that affect autistic people. Here are just a few of my favorite resources and recommendations for support and elevating the contributions of autistic people (just to get you started): Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) I Will Die On This Hill: Autistic Adults, Autism Parents, and the Children Who Deserve a Better World by Meghan Ashburn and Jules Edwards (don't forget to check your local library for a free copy!) Paige Layle- an autistic content creator and author (book available March 26, 2024) Cory Singer- autistic singer/songwriter and content creatorAmanda Welch- GreaterThanYouThink on Etsyangiepea- Etsy Why buy from and support #actuallyautistic people? Because it's the bare minimum we can do as a society. Let's reverse the questions- why buy an autism awareness shirt from someone who isn't autistic and is just in it for capitalizing on a "hot market"?
