Emma Wardall, founder and managing director of the Essex Witch Museum, reveals her passion for telling the stories of those marginalised from society during the witch trials that took place in the county of Essex, England, from 1542 to 1736.
She is currently fundraising with her colleagues to open an in-person museum in Chelmsford, exploring the local stories from this brutal period of history, and preserving them for future generations.
What was believed to be a witch? What was the difference between witches and cunning folk? Why were they persecuted? Who were they?
A fascinating chat about the museum journey so far, visions for the future and exciting news for an entire week of witch trials fun and education coming up in Chelmsford from Oct 27th - Nov 2nd...
