बाज बहादुर और रानी रूपमती की कहानी हिंदी साहित्य पढ़ने वालों के लिए एक जानी पहचानी कहानी है। कहानी प्रेम की भी है और बिछोह की भी। एक राजकुमार जिसने प्रेम तो किया लेकिन अपनी प्रेमिका और पत्नी को एक शहंशाह की बुरी नज़र से नहीं बचा सका। उसकी रानी ने तो अपना सम्मान बचाने के लिए ज़हर खा लिया। और वो खुद कई साल भागने के बाद उन्हीं लोगों की शरण में चला गया जिनके कारण उसने अपनी पत्नी को गंवाया था।

A tragic love story: Mandu

Baz Bahadur and Rani Roopmati's love story is the stuff of a legend. A familiar trope often used in Hindi literature. But the story is of love, longing, and loss. A prince did love but was unable to save his lover from the prying eyes of the king. She saved her honor by committing suicide by poisoning herself. Baz Bahadur, however, tried to avenge his loss but finally submitted to the superior power of the king.
