    Aug 17 2025

Welcome to the Eat This Bread Drink This Cup. The communion meditation today is based on a passage of Scripture from the Old Testament, Psalms 103: 8-18. In this psalm, King David is filled with praise for the LORD for His unfailing love. We should join in praise with King David as we see all of God's promises guaranteed by the blood of His Son, Jesus. All Scripture quotations are from the New Living Translation (NLT) and are used with permission

As you listen to the episode today, my hope is that you will be encouraged from the time spent meditating on what Jesus has done for you. You are a special person; the one Jesus died to save!

  • Don't Trip Over the Rock - Romans 9:30-33
    Aug 10 2025

Welcome to the Eat This Bread Drink This Cup podcast. The communion meditation today is based on a passage of Scripture from the New Testament, Romans 9:30-33. All Scripture quotations are from the New Living Translation and are used with permission.

My Bible reading plan for this week included Psalms 73-89 and Romans 5-10. I was drawn to Romans 9:30-33 because of the powerful imagery used by God to describe His Son, “I am placing a stone in Jerusalem that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall." For those of us who have placed our faith in Jesus, He is the Rock that saves! As we partake of the bread and drink from the cup, these are vivid reminders of the suffering Jesus experienced on the cross to save us. To all who are searching from meaning in this life, don't be the one who only trips over the Rock that is Jesus!

  • Made Right with God - Romans 3:21-26
    Aug 3 2025

Welcome to the Eat This Bread Drink This Cup podcast. My Bible Reading Plan for this week included Psalms 53-72 and Acts 27:26-Romans 4. I was drawn to Romans 3:23-26 because in these verses, the Apostle Paul describes something very important to humankind, how to be made right with God, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. When we observe the Lord's Supper, we shudder at the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ endured on the cross for our benefit. Thanks be to God that we are made right with God through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. All Scripture quotations are from the New Living Translation (NLT) and are used with permission.

  • Send Out Your Light and Your Truth - Psalms 43:1-5
    Jul 27 2025

Welcome to the Eat This Bread Drink This Cup podcast. My Bible Reading Plan for this week included Psalms 34-52 and Acts 22-27:25. I was drawn to Psalms 43:3 because the psalmist pleads with God to send out His light and His truth as they are the only guides for him to go where God is, the source of all his joy. As we partake of the bread and drink from the cup, we remember that God sent Jesus, His Light and His Truth, to save us from our sins and lead us to God.

As you listen to the episode today, my hope is that you will be encouraged from the time spent meditating on what Jesus has done for you. You are a special person; the one Jesus died to save!

  • Our Hope Is in You - Psalms 33: 13-22
    Jul 19 2025

Welcome to the Eat This Bread Drink This Cup podcast. My Bible Reading Plan for this week included Psalms 13-33 and Acts 18-21. As is my custom, I first asked God to direct me to the passage of Scripture from these readings that He wanted me to share about Jesus as we assemble to break bread. I was drawn to Psalms 33: 13-22 because the psalmist in these verses addresses a question as old as humanity itself, "Will a person or a nation choose to honor God?" Despite the passage of time, the question remains the same, "Will you choose to honor Me?" All Scripture quotations are from the New Living Translation (NLT) and are used with permission.

  • From They to We - Acts 16: 6-10
    Jul 12 2025

Welcome to the Eat This Bread Drink This Cup podcast. The communion meditation today is based on a passage of Scripture from the New Testament, Acts 16: 6-10. In this passage of Scripture, we discover a change in the author's perspective. Luke is no longer an author who reports on historical facts, he is now both an eyewitness and participant of history in the making. As Christians, we, too, have had a change of perspective. Once we were the "they" and "them," the ones who were dead in their sins, but now we are part of the "we" and "us" who have received forgiveness of our sins and eternal life through Jesus Christ. Like Luke, we are no longer looking at the past, we are now eyewitnesses of the glories of living in kingdom of God. As we break the bread and drink the cup, we remember Jesus, who died to give us a future in heaven with Him. All Scripture quotations are from the New Living Translation (NLT) and are used with permission.

  • Just When I - Acts 10: 9-23
    Jul 5 2025

Welcome to the Eat This Bread Drink This Cup podcast. The communion meditation today is based on a passage of Scripture from the New Testament, Acts 10: 9-23. In this passage of Scripture, God reveals to the Apostle Peter that the good news of the gospel is intended for both Jews and Gentiles. As a consequence, the Apostle Peter's life was forever changed by this revelation from God. We, too, were unexpectedly uprooted from our status quo and our lives forever changed by our encounter with Jesus. In the breaking of bread and drinking from the cup, we pause to remember Jesus and His love for us. All Scripture quotations are from the New Living Translation (NLT) and are used with permission

    Jun 29 2025

Welcome to the Eat This Bread Drink This Cup podcast. The communion meditation today is based on a passage of Scripture from the Old Testament, Job 9: 32-35. In this passage of Scripture, Job laments that his life would be better if he only had a mediator between himself and God. God knew humankind would require a mediator, and He asked Jesus Christ to be the one to mediate for us. All Scripture quotations are from the New Living Translation (NLT) and are used with permission.
