Join VERNON RAPLEY, Director of Cultural Heritage Protection and Security at London's VICTORIA AND ALBERT MUSEUM and former Head of SCOTLAND YARD'S ART AND ANTIQUES UNIT as he reflects on dealing with fakers and forgers, and how the world of digital copy is transforming access to museum collections. EXPLORING THE GENUINE FAKE with PATRICIA KINGORI (www.ndph.ox.ac.uk/team/patricia-kingori) is brought to you by the WELLCOME CENTRE FOR ETHICS & HUMANITIES at the UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD. Associate Professor PATRICIA KINGORI is Principal Investigator of a large WELLCOME TRUST funded project examining fakes, fabrications and falsehoods in health and medicine, including the concept of the ‘genuine fake’, the idea that something can be both real and fake at the same time. EXPLORING THE GENUINE FAKE was born out of a workshop at Somerville College, Oxford, in 2019, which brought together people from very different fields to discuss the ‘genuine fake’, some of the challenges and risks it can present, and how we can learn to navigate this minefield when it matters. FURTHER INFORMATION The WELLCOME CENTRE FOR ETHICS & HUMANITIES aims to lead debate on the ethical requirements for scientific research and technological innovation. www.weh.ox.ac.uk/ FAKES, FABRICATIONS & FALSEHOODS | PATRICIA KINGORI, Associate Professor in Global Health Ethics & Wellcome Senior Investigator www.ndph.ox.ac.uk/team/patricia-kingori MUSIC | Inquisitive Pizz - Jonathan Slatter (PRS) © Sounds Visual Music Ltd PRODUCTION | ChromeRadio for the WELLCOME CENTRE FOR ETHICS & HUMANITIES
