In this episode, Emma talks about how she didn't expect to be a military spouse but she would not have it any other way! From a young age, Emma and her partner knew what long distance was like between her completing her studies and her partner working. Doing distance made them appreciate each other more, build resilience, trust, and communication. Emma talks about her struggles during covid with a young baby and how she put herself on "survival mode". At the time, her and other mothers and parents had no choice but to put themselves on survival mode throughout covid. Emma also mentions the struggles that her 2 year old daughter goes through at school with her classmates and how her behaviour changes once her dad leaves or is coming back from a course or a tour. Children are sponges and notice things that we may not always notice ourselves. Emma mentions that because of the health system we live in and how it's so bombarded with lack of services and / or workers, it's often times very hard to seek the help that parents need. Therefore, often times they have be their own advocate for their children.
Enjoy this episode! It was a good one
