Join Anne & Kelli for their 244th NEW episode of #ilovemywife podcast.
They are so excited to fill everyone in on their recent trip to Africa! They began the trip with several nights in Cape Town, South Africa. They began at the fabulous 12 Apostles Hotel and stayed in the Presidential Suite (the same one that Lady Gaga stayed in) that was truly the most glamourous room they had ever stayed in. They went wine tasting in Stellenbosch with a private tour by The Wine Fairy, had lunch at the beautiful lesbian owned Sterrekopje Farm, and moved to the gorgeously modern Silo Hotel near the waterfront for 2 nights.
Next, they packed up and headed off on safari. First, they flew on tiny planes to Maun, Botswana and then on to Savute Elephant Lodge by Belmond in Chobe National Park. They headed out on their first drive and immediately spotted 2 lionesses nursing their baby cubs. It was quite a way to kick off the safari. Over the next 2 days they saw lions, zebras, giraffes, elephants, a leopard and on and on. There was dancing, singing by the staff and beautiful dinners around roaring fires at night all surrounded by so many friends and so many new friends that they made there.
Next, they again flew to on a tiny plane (12 seats) to Eagle Island Lodge by Belmond on the Okavango Delta. This was a completely different vibe as this area is wide open wetlands and the animals and free to roam anywhere they want, including on the property. On these drives they saw so many hippos, elephants, crocodiles, baboons, giant male lions and so much more. At this property they had their own dipping pool at their luxury tented room and had some relaxing time one afternoon to enjoy it while watching impalas and zebras come to have water. They had a surprise helicopter ride over the delta and were treated to special sundown cocktails every night at different locations on the property.
They then flew back to Cape Town so Kelli and the rest of their group could attend their LGBTQ Advisory Board Meetings for Belmond at the truly incredible Mount Nelson by Belmond. They call it the Pink Nellie because the entire property is pink! There were meetings, cocktail parties, paint and champagne, a surprise jeep trip for all of them to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve to a place called Veld and Sea where they learned about sustainable living and foraging food. They then had a lovely lunch, botanical cocktails and were treated to a truly inspiring performance by a group called Hot Water.
When the meetings ended, they moved to another hotel Cape Grace on the waterfront. They did a half day tour and visited Table Mountain, the vibrant Bo-Kapp neighborhood and finished with shopping at The Water Shed. For the last night they moved to another hotel called Cape Cadogan, that is a gorgeous boutique hotel just off of bustling Kloof Street. It was a great place to end a VERY busy trip.
Next, they start a new segment called Travel Hacks. Every episode they will each give one of their favorite travel hacks. This week Kelli talks about apple air tags and Anne talks about choosing an airline and staying loyal so you can earn valuable travel perks and upgrades.
