  • Ep. 4: Sativa Shakespeare; spinning to the sounds of an infant
    Jan 30 2026

In Episode 4 of Drag & Burlesque Diaries, we’re doing things a little differently. Flame is checking in and recording straight from the hospital—because the show must go on and we truly mean it when we say no performer left backstage! Joining us in the sheet fort tonight is the incredible Sativa Shakespeare! We’re diving deep into what it’s like for per to navigate the stage after entering parenthood and how pers artistry has evolved. But it’s not all "renny and me"—things get spooky when Sativa shares a bone-chilling NOLA ghost story that’ll have you pulling the covers up to your chin. 👻🏰

We also play a high-stakes round of DRAG (our specialized version of MASH) to see what the future holds for per! 🔮

  • Tips 4 Tip$ ep.2: Know your history, bestie!
    Jan 6 2026

Before you ever step on stage, there’s something every performer should know: where this art form comes from.

In this episode of Tips for Tips, Flame Foxxe takes you on a gentle, honest, slumber-party-style chat about why knowing your drag and burlesque history matters — and how research, respect, and showing up before you perform can make you a stronger artist and a better community member.

We talk about going to shows before debuting, learning from performers who came before you, taking classes, studying online, and why history isn’t gatekeeping — it’s grounding. Whether you’re a king, queen, thing, creature, or still figuring it out, this episode is about entering the space with care, curiosity, and confidence.

Flame also highlights essential resources for learning more, including DragKingHistory.com, founded by drag king historian and performer Mo B. Dick, as well as burlesque history and education through the Burlesque Hall of Fame. Additional burlesque learning resources mentioned include Unhelpful Tips with Matt Finish and Judith Stein.

Drag is community art. Knowing your history helps you honor it — and helps you shine.
