About Davey Blackburn

Davey and his wife, Amanda, moved to Indianapolis in 2012 to plant Resonate Church. They had a dream to start a church that would cause the city to come alive in the power of Jesus. Since high school, Davey has been passionate about seeing people meet Jesus and helping them discover their God-given purpose in life. On July 28th, 2014 they brought Weston James Blackburn into the world.

On November 10th, 2015 Davey came home from the gym to find his wife murdered in a home invasion. She was pregnant with their second child. Weston was in his crib, unharmed. Since that day countless people have come to know Christ through Amanda's story. 2 years later Davey remarried and God’s redemption story began to unfold. Davey and his new wife, Kristi, have dedicated the rest of their lives to helping people through their valleys and teaching them that when following Jesus, Nothing is Wasted. They live in Indianapolis, IN with their three kids, Natalia, Weston, and Cohen. They founded Nothing is Wasted Ministries in order to help people partner with God to take back their story.

Steve Jamison and his wife, Cheryl, serve as the Lead Pastors of Eastridge Church, a dynamic multi-site church with two campuses in the Seattle, Washington area (Issaquah and West Seattle) and one in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Prior to pastoring at Eastridge Church, Steve served as an evangelist ministering on six continents. He is the author of “The Most Valuable Catch,” a book about spiritual growth and leadership, which draws on Steve’s background growing up as a commercial fisherman in Alaska and the entire West Coast.

Steve has a unique ministry blend, having led Jammin’ Against the Darkness, an evangelistic outreach that featured NBA players, award-winning music, and the message of Jesus Christ in premier venues such as Madison Square Garden, The Verizon Center and T-Mobile Park. On this episode we have Micah McElveen on the podcast as we discuss his book Dying for Purpose which captures his story.

Micah was a three-sport athlete who had dreams of grid iron splendor and loved to surf.​ He had no idea that a family trip to the beach, would nearly send him to the grave. On October 9, 1995, a stranger found Micah’s lifeless body floating face down in the surf. "I remember feeling a shock rush through my body as soon as my head hit the water. I had dived into big waves a hundred times before, but this time I knew something was wrong." Micah shattered four vertebrae in his neck, was immediately rendered quadriplegic, and he flatlined. His body was loaded onto a life flight and transported to Tampa General Hospital.

Intense rehab and the grace of God allowed Micah to recover use of his legs and partial use of his arms. No longer able to play football, Micah honed his skills in soccer. He also found that soccer helped break through language & culture barriers quickly, an insight that would shape the future. ​As he prepared to leave Africa and started to process what he had seen, Micah came to a crossroads and this is where Vapor Ministries was founded.

A surfing accident left Micah dead. But God wasn't done. Micah's dreams radically altered, a new path for his life emerged as God gave vision for a world-impacting ministry.

In 2005, Micah founded Vapor Ministries. Today, they operate ministry centers in multiple countries, serving hundreds of thousands on a weekly basis and employing hundreds of indigenous people.
