Im your host DeeJay*B And Today on the 2nd 2None Podcast we’re talking about something many Americans have heard about but very few people truly understand.
It is called a Dignified Transfer.
A Dignified Transfer is the formal military ceremony that takes place when a fallen United States service member returns home to American soil after losing their life in the line of duty.
For most overseas casualties, this ceremony takes place at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
Dover Air Force Base is home to the Department of Defense’s primary mortuary facility, the Charles C. Carson Center for Mortuary Affairs. This facility is responsible for receiving, identifying, and preparing fallen service members so they can be returned to their families with the highest level of dignity and respect.
The process begins when a military aircraft carrying the fallen service member lands at Dover. These aircraft are usually large transport planes such as the C-17 Globemaster or the C-5 Galaxy operated by the United States Air Force.
