Despising Manna & Demanding Meat

While it officially became a National Holiday in 1863 it is said it traces its origins to 1621 or even earlier. I would imagine that no matter when it was first celebrated; it came out of a deep-rooted sense of gratitude that was more than a one day or one meal sort of thing. Today, sometimes it seems the Holiday is tied more to family gatherings and meals. Maybe it’s time for a “course correction” to get back to our roots of giving thanks to; God?!This month, our speaker, Bob Russell, is helping us with an “Thanksgiving Season - Heart Check” to help us prepare for a more meaningful Thanksgiving. Bob Russell is a retired senior minister of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, where he served for 40 years as “Southeast” became one of the largest churches in America. As a country, America has much to be thankful for, but as a whole we don’t show it much. In the Bible, God’s people, the Israelites, shared a similar affliction. In today’s message Bob draws on the experiences of God’s Chosen People to help us with a Manna and Meat “course correction” in preparation for a day of thanks to the one to whom all thanks is due!
