Death by Therapy: Candace Newmaker

When Jeane Newmaker adopted Candace she finally had the daughter she always wanted, but there were problems. Candace experienced abuse and neglect from her biological parents and to make matters worse, the foster care system separated Candace from her siblings. 
Jeane became frustrated that Candace wouldn't connect with her and that the 10 year old girl was angry all the time, so she tried therapy and mood altering drugs. When that didn't work, Jeane was referred to therapists in Evergreen, Colorado who used attachment therapy techniques called "rebirthing."
What happened next was cruel, degrading, and ultimately, criminal.
Buckle up for this episode, folks. It's a sad and frustrating case.
