Day the War Stopped

On June 13, 1863, the Civil War stopped for a day in St. Francisville, Louisiana as Confederate masons honored the masonic burial request of a fallen Union gunboat Commander. This is the story of that event both then and now and how the celebration continues to honor the bond of brotherhood for masons from across the country and world.
