Welcome to Day 7 of Divine Hunger — 40 Days of Devotion, Prayer, Fasting & Meditation.
Today, we examine the third condition Jesus revealed in the Parable of the Sower: The Thorny Ground Believers.
📖 Scripture Focus: Matthew 13:22 — “The cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.”
⚔️ Word Weapons: • Ezekiel 11:19–20 • Matthew 6:25–34 • John 15:1–8
Church history is filled with names of people who carried great potential, yet never fulfilled it—not because they lacked calling, but because they could not handle success, increase, or responsibility.
If we cannot maintain our faith walk with little, how can we be trusted with much?
Thorny ground believers are those whose hearts are crowded. Though the Word is received, it must compete with: • The cares of this world • The pursuit of money and power • Anxiety about provision and status • Attachment to the systems of this present age
These believers are often more invested in this world than the one to come. Their trust subtly shifts from God to resources, and the Word—though alive—becomes choked.
Riches themselves do not deceive. They only deceive when we place our trust in them.
Jesus reminds us that fruitfulness flows from abiding, not accumulating. A divided heart cannot bear lasting fruit.
🔥 This devotion is a call to unclutter the heart, uproot thorns, and return to single-hearted devotion—so the Word of God can produce lasting fruit.
