• Resumen

  • Coni takes you through a tale that we've seen too many times -- a man ruined by neglectful parents and a broken system. A serial killer with genuine remorse and a desire to remained incarcerated? It almost sounds too crazy to be true. David Edward Maust is an anomaly in the serial killer world who had Coni feeling something she usually doesn't feel when researching serial killers in addition to her disdain. David E. Maust

I don't buy his "I told you so", story...
1. He's a pedophile, therefore he is manipulative & has a skewed view of realty. 2. He never pled guilty, he fought each case in court. He made up excuses, stories, drug people in as witnesses & took advantage of technicalities...He must've had great lawyers every time, he never was in jail long. He was a prolific child killer & rapist, he singlehandedly created unimaginable pain & suffering...I think he started the "please keep me in jail" bs only to insult the judges, lawyers, and authorities. The ONLY reason I give him an inkling of credit is because he had enough guts to complete his suicide. The psychopathy of violent sexual sadists, rapists, and child predators, doesn't allow for remorse or empathy. What might appear as genuine empathy a normal person would feel is actually manipulation, meant to either hurt someone or glorify/justify himself.
Explaining my take on the case for the sake of discussion...Great job as usual & especially in being objective about a question that's bound to bring big feelings any way you look at it. Full stars & sorry if this doesn't belong in the reviews.
My take-away from this case was that monsters like him are out of control & not capable of stopping...not his kind, not ever. Our justice system is responsible for keeping them out of society, and it's failure to do so over and over again is an imperative conversation we all need to partake in. Thanks again for taking the time to bring it to the table.
