Dave Washington honored the legacy of civil rights icon Reverend Jesse Jackson and Theo Jefferson, a military veteran and community leader. He highlighted Jefferson's contributions to women's empowerment in the trades and his role in coaching youth. Washington also celebrated the birthdays of several community members and acknowledged the first black firefighters in Las Vegas: James Walker, Monroe Williams, Larry Powell, and Otis Harris. He emphasized their pivotal roles in integrating public safety and praised their mentorship. Washington also announced his new role as a voice for veterans and plans to raise funds for three organizations at his upcoming birthday party.
