She doesn’t drift through old cemeteries or crumbling ruins. She appears where chandeliers once glittered, where music played late into the night, and where glamour and tragedy quietly collided.

Known as the Lady in Red, this spectral figure is defined by her striking scarlet dress — a vivid counterpart to the more familiar White Lady. Across Canada, sightings of a woman in red have echoed through hotels, theatres, and historic public spaces, each story tied to longing, loss, or unfinished business.

In Vancouver’s Fairmont Hotel, she is believed by some to be Jennie Pearl Cox, a glamorous 1940s socialite said to linger in the halls she once frequented. In Toronto’s Lower Bay Station, commuters whisper about a red-clad figure glimpsed in the shadows. In Hamilton’s FirstOntario Concert Hall, another Lady in Red is said to wander where applause once rang out.
