You know the myths. You’ve seen the biopics. But if you’re the kind of music fan who craves the rest of the story—the stuff they buried or cleaned up for streaming and theaters—this is your podcast. DISGRACELAND is the award-winning show that reveals the deeply human, highly dramatic, true crime–fueled chaos behind legendary musicians like Amy Winehouse, Jerry Lee Lewis, Sean “Diddy” Combs, the Grateful Dead, Blondie, and more. While we dig into the dark side, we do so with reverence for the artists—and an understanding of the extreme highs, lows, and personal costs that come with fame and making great art. This is music history like you’ve never heard it—edge-of-your-seat stories exploding with drama and the kind of information that’ll make you dangerous at dinner parties. New, fully scripted and sound-designed episodes drop every Tuesday. On Thursdays, we hand the mic to you—and feature listener voicemails, texts, and emails in our interactive bonus episodes. And on Fridays, we revisit the wildest stories from our 250+ episode archive with “Rewind” drops that’ll transport you back into music history’s most entertaining moments. DISGRACELAND is not a journalistic podcast—it’s an entertainment podcast inspired by true events. Certain dialogue and scenes are occasionally fictionalized for dramatic effect, as is common in scripted entertainment based on real stories. • Peter Tosh (Pt. 1): Legalizing It, Police Brutality, and the Steppin’ Razor
    Oct 3 2025
Peter Tosh was a reggae subversive who used his music as a means to fight corruption, oppression, and hypocrisy. Unlike his one-time bandmate Bob Marley, Tosh didn’t fight for peace. He fought for truth–and justice. He did this with a guitar shaped like an M-16 automatic rifle. He lobbied for the legalization of marijuana, using the profits of the drug trade to get his message onto the most iconic album of his career. All of this put Peter Tosh in the crosshairs of authority, the government, and those who wished to silence him – some who even wanted to see him dead. Featured Article: 20+ of the Best Music Podcasts to Play on Repeat

These are 20+ of the best music podcasts around. They're as different from one another as rock 'n' roll is from opera; some are funny and lighthearted, while others explore hefty social issues. Some focus on specific kinds of music—rap, country, classical, rock, pop—and others highlight diverse artists working in just about every musical style. Music fans are as varied as the music they listen to, but we promise there's something here for everyone.

I've always loved this podcast. It was actually the very first podcast I ever listened to right before the second season came out. I remember listening to the whole first season that night. I have never had a bad thing to say about the show. I even enjoyed the episodes about musicians I don't really care for. But you hit on everything with this episode. Tom Petty's death was such a tragedy and a huge loss to the music world and you could really feel it in the way you told it. You need to do one on Chris Cornell when I heard he died it was such a gut punch. You are the one person that would tell his story the right way just you did with Tom Petty. Keep the awesome work!! 🤘🏻🎸

This is episode I'll be thinking about for days

I listen to this podcast while at work, makes the time fly by. Jake Brennan has the prefect voice for radio. So enjoy/love the topics covered. Another great podcast by J. Brennan Badlands, highly recommend this one too.

One of my top 3 podcasts of a time. Even the ones about people you don't listen to are interesting. Keep up the good work Jake.

I would really like to listen but the profanity is too much and not necessary. Really unfortunate how far we have fallen as a society.

could have been great.
