About Cristian
Cristian Ruvalcaba was born and raised in San Diego. While attaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering at San Diego State University, he was provided an opportunity to join an information security team for the first time. He took that opportunity and ran with it, eventually accomplishing what many security newcomers strive for: a steady career with experience under his belt. Along the journey, several certifications were successfully attempted and passed, white papers have been written and he even had the opportunity to contribute a chapter to a book on advances in SIEM technology. His career has spanned paths that include corporate security, professional services, managed security services and now he is a Senior Cybersecurity Technical Specialist at IBM.

Cristian believes that careers don't define individuals, instead, individuals define their careers; in turn they also define their hobbies. As such, in addition to his career as a Security Professional, Cristian has explored efforts in the performing arts through theater and film, even successfully attaining his Masters in Fine Arts in Television Film and New Media Production and has a handful of award winning film projects under his belt, including screenplays and short films.

Cristian continues to live in the San Diego area, along with his wife and their dorkie, Boba Fetch.
