    I am a new children’s book author but a long-time animal lover. I have been Volunteering at the Wolf Conservation Center for almost a decade, and that is where I was introduced to Trumpet and her amazing story. I studied psychology and work as a mental health therapist. My background in psychology has influenced my writing and my mission to change the “big bad wolf” myth.

  • Brian Trapp - Life Through My Brothers Eyes

    Brian Trapp is director of disability studies at the University of Oregon, where he also teaches fiction and nonfiction. His work has been published in the Kenyon Review, Southern Review, Longreads, Brevity, and elsewhere. His essays have been listed as Notable in Best American Essays and anthologized in the Best of Brevity.

    He has received a Steinbeck Fellowship, an Elizabeth George Foundation grant, an Oregon Arts Fellowship, a Sewanee Writer’s Conference Borchardt Scholarship, a Tin House Summer Residency, and a Taft Fellowship from the University of Cincinnati, where he completed his PhD. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, with his twin brother, Danny.

He served in the U.S. Navy for fourteen years and made multiple deployments as a combat surgeon with an East Coast-based SEAL Team. He and his wife, Wendy, live in Southwest Florida with their four children.

Ittleson Award for the Promotion of Children’s Mental Health, and the American Psychological Association Distinguished Contribution to Child Advocacy Award. She lives in Boston.

    DANIEL SCHOONOVER is a devoted animal lover and volunteer, committed to supporting overlooked creatures and communities. With hands-on experience in herpetology and marine life care—including work at the Woods Hole Science Aquarium and the MSPCA—he has spent much of his life nurturing the natural world. He is currently studying at the Boston University Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation.
