For Aaron and his sons to be ordained to the office of priest, they needed to be washed and clothed, to be consecrated by oil and blood, and to have their sins atoned for. Aaron and his sons were ordained to obey. We find that Christ has made us priests of the Most High God by washing us with the water of the word, clothing us with his righteousness, purifying us with his blood, atoning for our sins, and setting us apart as his holy people by his Spirit and blood. As priests in Christ, we have the privilege of access to the Father and the responsibility of obedience.

Paul is eager to preach the gospel in Rome because of his confidence in it . Paul trusts the proclaimed gospel because it is the power of God for salvation, the revelation of his righteousness, and the impartation of eternal life. From Paul's confidence, ours increases and brings about increased comfort.

The focus of this passage in Leviticus is on which parts of the guilt and peace offerings belong to the priests, the people, and the Lord. From these instructions we learn about the maintenance of the ministry, the need for carefulness in worship, and the need for cleanness to approach the Lord.

He does so that the Romans can marvel at what God has done for them, resolve any differences they may have, and focus on gospel advancement with Paul. After looking at these things, we apply them to our own church and lives.

Christ has made us priests to his God and Father. Consequently, we can learn what it means to be priests from the Lord's commands to the Aaron and his sons in Leviticus 6 and 7. We in this first part of this priestly manual for sacrifice are taught the principles of perpetuity, holiness, and reverence.

Paul wrote his letter to the believers in Rome from Corinth about 24 years after the resurrection. Each of the sacrifices highlight a different aspect of the gospel. The guilt offering reminds us that when we sin against the Lord we incur an infinite debt that must be paid for their to be atonement. We are pointed to the infinite Christ who paid in full our infinite debt. Consequently, we respond in faith and repentance. The quilt offering teaches us that we must bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

In this sermon, we learn how to recover from apathy by what Jesus says to the Laodiceans . We return to being cold or hold by marveling at Jesus' glory, by appreciating his disgust of lukewarmness, by remembering our true, spiritual condition, by cherishing what he did for us, by listening to his rebuke and discipline through repentance, by renewing our fellowship with him, and by trusting in his promises.
