00:30 14 Nelly visits Isabella and finds Heathcliff refined, Isabella degraded. Heathcliff despises Edgar’s “duty” love, insists Catherine loves him more, mistreats Isabella, and persuades Nelly to deliver a secret letter arranging a visit.
20:55 15 Nelly delivers Heathcliff’s letter; he meets dying Catherine. They reconcile bitterly, blaming and forgiving each other. Edgar interrupts as Catherine faints. Heathcliff escapes, vowing to linger nearby.
40:24 16 Catherine dies after childbirth. Nelly reveres her beauty and believes her soul is at peace. Heathcliff, devastated, begs her ghost to haunt him and secretly replaces Edgar’s hair in her locket.
