Converge, Week 3
Day 4:
Silencing the Lies
Devotional
We live in an age of information overload. Studies show the average person spends nearly 50 hours per week looking at screens, consuming countless messages and opinions. But here’s a sobering truth: among all the voices we hear each day, the biggest liar we’ll encounter is often ourselves. We tell ourselves lies about our worth, our future, our relationships, and our purpose. These internal lies can be just as destructive as any external deception. This is where the power of God’s Word becomes our lifeline. Scripture doesn’t just give us information; it gives us truth that cuts through deception like a sword. When the enemy whispers lies about who you are, God’s Word declares you are fearfully and wonderfully made. When circumstances make you doubt God’s love, Scripture reminds you that nothing can separate you from His love. When fear tries to paralyze you, God’s Word speaks courage into your heart. The battlefield of spiritual warfare is primarily in our minds, and God’s Word is our most powerful weapon against the lies that seek to destroy us.
Bible Verse
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. - Ephesians 6:17
Reflection Question
What lies have you been believing about yourself or your circumstances, and how can God’s truth from Scripture replace those lies?
Quote
“Over the course of your entire life, you are the biggest liar you will ever meet. You lie to yourself far more than anyone else.”
Prayer
Father, help me recognize the lies I’ve been believing and replace them with Your truth. Give me discernment to identify deception in all its forms. Let Your Word be a sword that cuts through every lie and brings clarity to my mind and heart. Fill me with Your truth. Amen
