Converge, Week 3
Day 1:
The Ultimate Authority
Devotional
In a world filled with competing voices and conflicting messages, we desperately need an anchor of truth. Every day, we’re bombarded with opinions from social media, news outlets, friends, and family members. How do we know which voice to trust? The answer lies in recognizing God’s ultimate authority over all creation. When we understand who God is and His divine attributes, we must acknowledge that He has authority over everything He has made - including us. This isn’t about limiting our freedom; it’s about finding security in the One who created us and knows what’s best for our lives. God’s authority isn’t harsh or oppressive - it’s loving and protective. Just as a loving parent sets boundaries to keep their child safe, God’s authority provides the framework for a life that truly flourishes. When we submit to God’s authority, we’re not surrendering to a tyrant but trusting in the wisdom of our Creator who loves us beyond measure.
Bible Verse
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Reflection Question
What areas of your life have you been hesitant to submit to God’s authority, and what fears or concerns are holding you back from trusting His loving guidance?
Quote
“When you submit to God, you necessarily must then submit to his word.”
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to recognize Your loving authority in my life. Give me the courage to submit to Your wisdom rather than relying on my own understanding. Show me areas where I’ve been resistant to Your guidance, and help me trust that Your ways are always best. Amen.
