Compassion—it softens hearts, yet it can harden lives. It’s the force that binds humanity, but is it always a virtue? Today, we pull apart the threads of compassion, unraveling its essence, its limits, and its place in justice. Is feeling enough, or must action follow? Is compassion born within us, or is it learned through suffering? And why do we choose who deserves it?
This time, we’re joined by Luyanda Andrea, a BA Psychology student whose hands have held the weight of true compassion. She spends her days caring for those who’ve known neither home nor family—newborns abandoned in the earliest moments of life, toddlers whose first language is silence. Through her experiences, we explore the raw, unfiltered nature of compassion beyond theory—where it heals, where it breaks, and where it leaves us questioning our own humanity.
