Meridian was up early to cool, partly cloudy skies and just a hint of leftover rain from last night as high school athletes, commuters, and early dog walkers all welcomed a mild August morning. Today’s forecast is calling for highs around the mid-70s with lows in the low 60s so listeners can expect comfortable temps to linger even into the evening. According to KIVI-TV, a mix of sun and clouds will dominate Wednesday, keeping it perfect for outdoor activities. Cooler conditions have arrived this week, and there was even a chance of thunderstorms last night but all the flash flood watches seem to have shifted north toward Boise and the upper valley.

Local air quality is a breath of fresh air this morning with Weather Underground showing Meridian’s AQI in the healthy green range thanks to lower PM2.5 and ozone readings overnight. Pollen counts have dropped a bit after those scattered showers yesterday so those sensitive to grass and ragweed swaps can take a deeper breath on their walks or runs today.

The high school sports scene was buzzing last night as Meridian High’s girls soccer battled Centennial in a dramatic 2-1 win, with a late goal from sophomore Zoe Price clinching the match. Over at Rocky Mountain High, football hosted Eagle in a preseason scrimmage that ended in a fun, friendly 14-14 tie. Fans at both games remarked on the electric energy and were grateful for the cooler temps compared to last week’s scorching heat.

For those heading to the farmer’s market later today or tomorrow, Summit Life Chiropractic posted a vendor spotlight on Instagram highlighting local growers and wellness booths that are gearing up for a busy Thursday. Community events remain strong, with the Twin Falls County Fair just down the highway expected to pull big Meridian crowds this weekend.
