  • A German aerospace engineer, Rudiger Köch, lived underwater for 120 days in a specially designed SeaPod off the coast of Panama. This endeavor, undertaken by Köch and Ocean Builders co-founder Grant Romundt, aimed to test the viability of underwater habitats and break the previous record. While submerged, Köch conducted daily activities and observed marine life, highlighting the potential for sustainable ocean living and fostering a deeper appreciation for the underwater world. Upon resurfacing, he was awarded the Guinness World Records title for the longest time spent living in an underwater fixed habitat (male). The SeaPod, designed with sustainability in mind, features technology to prevent rusting and support marine life.
