In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we turn to Hebrews 12:25–29 and explore the power of God’s unshakable kingdom. We’ll walk through the Jewish understanding of God’s voice at Sinai, see how Christ fulfills and surpasses the Old Covenant, and consider how New Covenant believers can stand firm in a world that is being shaken. In today’s Coffee with the Superintendent, we step into one of the most powerful contrasts in Scripture—Hebrews 12:18–24—where the fearsome thunder of Mount Sinai gives way to the joyful welcome of Mount Zion. We’ll explore how the Jewish audience would have understood this vivid imagery, how the historical figures and places anchor its meaning, and how Jesus, as the mediator of the New Covenant, fulfills every promise with a better word than the blood of Abel. Then, in the Second Pour, we pause to celebrate our Berean family—alumni Gregory Adams, Matthew Burns, and Kyla Usher, along with our current students Kori in 3rd grade and Emma in 1st grade.

We’ll see how the Old Covenant warnings and blessings find their fulfillment in Jesus and how that truth shapes our daily walk.
