Hi, my name is Linda Cohen, and I am a reading specialist who loves to tell stories to kids! Some stories I will tell you are folktales, and no one knows who wrote them. Some will be written by other authors, and some will be written by me, drawing on my childhood memories or imagination. Hope you’ll join me so we can go on an adventure each month. When you listen to me tell you a story, there are no pictures to keep you interested. But, guess what? That’s your job! You need to try to take the words you hear and make them into pictures in your mind.F. Linda Cohen Arte Historia y Crítica Literaria

  • Trailer for Parents: Children's Stories with a Reading Teacher!
    Nov 22 2025

Hi! My name is Linda Cohen. I’m a reading specialist who loves sharing stories with children.

On this podcast, you’ll hear a mix of folktales, stories written by other authors, and original tales inspired by my own childhood and imagination. My goal is to spark curiosity, nurture a love of stories, and create meaningful moments you can share with your child.

Because these stories are told aloud, there are no pictures—and that’s intentional. Listening without visuals encourages children to develop one of the most important early literacy skills: visualizing. As they listen, they learn to turn words into mental images. In a sense, your child becomes the “director” of their own story experience, building a personal movie in their mind.

This kind of active listening strengthens comprehension, attention, creativity, and imagination. It may take practice, but it’s a joyful and valuable skill—and I’ll guide them along the way. Encourage your child to listen for details, ask questions, and share the pictures they imagined.

Thank you for joining me on this storytelling journey.

A new episode will be available each month!

  • The Little Engine That Could
    Aug 18 2025

First published in 1930, Watty Piper’s The Little Engine That Could has become a timeless children’s classic that inspires children. The tale follows a modest blue engine that agrees to pull a train of toys over a mountain after stronger, larger engines decline. Its steady refrain—“I think I can”—underscores the book’s enduring message about resilience, optimism, and the quiet power of perseverance.
