Ever wonder what live radio/live tv is really like? It can be chaotic-bloopers galore! It's how you roll that matters. Just keep going, just keep talking, embrace the ridiculousness! Tune in live some Saturday & you'll hear it. It's real, real, real. This particular Saturday, marching day for St Patrick's in Chicago, green river and all, Darren Holden takes a few minutes away from road-tripping to the next gig & calls in. It was a surprise for our listeners-and a bit of a surprise for me! Darren rang in over an hour earlier than scheduled. Didn't matter, I would chat with him ANY TIME! Take a listen. This guy is the whole package. He can chat away w/complete comfort. Loved this for our audience!

The Saturday of 18th of October, 2025, Consul General Brian Cahalane visited the show that airs immediately before ours. I caught him just as he was packing up to leave & asked if he would stay for "a few quick minutes" for my listeners. He graciously agreed. This is an excerpt from that show. Honestly. I LOVE these fellas! Willie Joe Casey & Tom Dolan are both frequent visitors to the live radio broadcast. We've made plans to record their stories & things never worked out until this day.

The opening of the Chicago GAA Hall of History, an idea hatched by these two, has come to fruition at Chicago Gaelic Park. The fellas were live on the radio show on this Saturday to promote this permanent exhibition. I asked if they'd be willing to hang around after the live broadcast for a chat about the Chicago GAA. I'm so grateful Willie Joe & Tommy were enthusiastic about the idea! If you are at all familiar w/our live broadcast, you know we are all about unscripted real conversations. That happens here. You never know where a question will lead you-you just follow along. That's the magic.

Both gentlemen share their emigration stories, the impact the GAA has had on their lives, and so much more.
