Beautiful writing, great structuring of independent and varied female characters, only to have it end abruptly with the moral that all women need to be married and have a man to enable them to be anything of value. And yet throughout the book the 25 yr old independent female protagonist was twice the person and twice the value of any male character. What happened to the author? Was she threatened with censure if she didn’t abruptly change the message of the book? Harrowing seeing a good book go bad.

Moral of story: Women are inferior to men
