As "Harry Potter" becomes an international phenomenon, it coincides with the culture wars of the 1990s. In the backlash from Christians across America, author J.K. Rowling is accused of mainstreaming witchcraft and poisoning children’s minds. Produced by Andy Mills, Matthew Boll, and Megan Phelps-Roper, with special thanks to Candace Mittel Kahn and Emily Yoffe. I like this podcast.

As a survivor of assault (the great majority of which was from men) I am sorry that women are losing scholarships and losing our place in the public conversation, as it is called.

Also, I know this sounds like a minor issue; but there was a restricted area of the library in Hogwarts, and the enemies of these books in the US wanted books to be in a restricted area. I just thought that was humorous.

In terms of children having to decide these deep and lifelong issues of gender, it would be much better if we did not have all this posting of their images on the internet.

When I was a child, I went through horrible abuse; but I never had to worry about someone posting a picture of me that literally would be on a worldwide platform. Let kids be kids by not allowing social medias to make money from children. I think it has so much to do with the discomfort of being constantly viewed and critiqued.

Having bought the books for my niece and nephew in the 2000's; I was so taken aback by my nephew's behavior. As a survivor of assault, I was calmly stating to my brother-in-law that I have become intimidated by seeing males in a public ladies room.

Then the nephew, who is very tall and loud comes right up to us and yells in our face that we don't understand anything, small-minded, etc, completely wrong. Now, how can sharing my honest experience (not opinion, experience) be closed minded.

I guess I would be called a TERF??? Good podcast

Important to listen to Rowling as she is jugded from all sides. The extreme reactions to her is so revealing.
