Chapter 16

After the De Laceys reject him, the Creature rages through the night, then burns their cottage in a storm-fueled frenzy. He resolves to seek Victor in Geneva, wandering through harsh seasons. A fleeting spring gentleness is crushed when he rescues a drowning girl and is shot by her companion, deepening his hatred. Reaching Geneva, he seizes and kills young William Frankenstein, then plants a locket on the sleeping Justine to frame her. Consumed by loneliness and vengeance, he demands that Victor create a companion of his kind.
