  • 062 - Why 68% of Catholics Avoid Confession
    Apr 7 2026

Most Catholics don’t go to confession.

In fact, recent survey data shows that 68% haven’t gone in the past year, despite the Church’s clear teaching and the incredible graces available in the sacrament.

So what’s really holding people back?

In this episode, the Fathers Andy unpack:

    • The most common fears about confession (and why they’re wrong)
    • Why embarrassment, shame, and misunderstanding keep people away
    • What actually happens in the confessional (from a priest’s perspective)
    • The difference between just “feeling better” and real spiritual transformation
    • Why confession isn’t about guilt… but about encountering God’s mercy

They also explore the deeper meaning of reconciliation, the beauty of hearing the words of absolution, and how this sacrament brings real peace; not just emotionally, but spiritually.

If you’ve ever avoided confession, felt unsure about it, or wondered if it really matters, this episode is for you.

  • 061 - He Descended Into Hell… But Not the Hell You Think
    Mar 24 2026

The Apostles’ Creed says Jesus descended into hell; but the Church doesn’t mean what many people assume.

In this episode, the Fathers Andy explain what Scripture and the Catechism actually teach about the place of the dead, why no one went to heaven before Christ, and what happened on Holy Saturday. They also discuss limbo, purgatory, the salvation of children, and the hope the Church gives to those who have lost loved ones.

One line in the Creed… with a lot more meaning than you might expect.

  • 060 - Faith or Superstition? Where Many Christians Get It Wrong
    Mar 10 2026

Many Catholics have heard of practices like burying a statue of St. Joseph to sell a house, wearing a scapular for protection, or praying certain prayers for specific outcomes.

But when does a devotion become superstition?

In this episode of Catholicism Unwrapped, the Fathers Andy discuss what the Catechism of the Catholic Church actually says about superstition, why it is considered sinful, and why human beings are naturally tempted to fall into it.

They talk about the difference between authentic Catholic devotion and treating religious practices like magic, the danger of attributing power to objects instead of to God, and how superstition is connected to divination and false trust.

    They also answer questions like:

    • Can you be a good Christian and still do superstitious rituals? • Is it wrong to pray for your team to win? • Are scapulars, rosaries, or statues superstitious? • Why does the Church warn so strongly about this?

This episode is meant to be honest and clear, especially for those who may not realize that superstition is something the Church takes seriously.

Faith is not magic, and trust in God cannot be replaced by rituals.
