Federal prosecutors have charged seven individuals for their alleged involvement in a multi-state theft ring that stole almost 500 catalytic converters from vehicles. The thieves, who worked with "the speed of a NASCAR pit crew," were arrested by the FBI Boston's Organized Crime Task Force and Massachusetts State Police as part of "Operation Cut and Run" following an investigation that uncovered over 470 targeted vehicles from 2022 to 2023. U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, Rachael Rollins, described the crime as taking less than one minute and leaving the affected vehicles disabled.
