This month marks Jane Austen’s 250th birthday. Who better to share her family’s legacy than her fifth-generation niece, and the last Austen descendant to grow up in Chawton House, Caroline Jane Knight? She is the author of Jane and Me: My Austen Heritage. It is the first memoir we have had from someone in the Austen family since 1867. Caroline Jane Knight is also the founder and Chair of the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation.

And who better to interview Caroline than a woman who has embraced the writings, characters, and history of Jane Austen than my beloved wife, Laurie Sue Brockway. Laurie Sue is a long-time journalist and author. She is also a public historian specializing in women’s history, writing history, and the intersection of public history and spirituality. She has had the pleasure of writing about Jane Austen’s House at Chawton.
