In January last year, President Trump signed an executive order restricting irreversible sex change procedures for minors. But a recent legal judgment may do almost as much to bring this barbaric practice to a halt.

A twenty-two- year-old woman has just won $2 million dollars after suing physicians who pushed a double mastectomy on her when she was sixteen. A psychologist and a surgeon persuaded her reluctant mother to consent, warning that refusal could place her at risk of suicide.

Her attorneys argued that the doctors failed to ensure that her other psychological conditions were properly diagnosed and treated before operating.

A jury agreed.

This is the first successful detransitioner lawsuit, but it won’t be the last. Nearly thirty others are in process, and there will be more if ridiculously short statutes of limitations are reformed.

It’s a reckoning that’s long overdue.
