Bubba's Comedy

De: Stephen James Butler
  • Resumen

  • Hello, my name is Stephen James. Welcome to my podcast Bubbas Comedy.

I think all comedians should work a weekend as security in a bar to understand people better for myself I spent 13 years doing security. Some unique MAYBE sometimes unbelievable stories from my topflight security days.

I embarked on my lifelong dream of stand-up comedy in 2013, and it was love at first set. The camaraderie and the like-minded individuals I worked with every weekend made me feel like I had found my true calling. They say if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. Well, in 2015, my life took an unexpected turn. I was no longer just a comedian; I became a survivor of gun violence, having been shot in the face. Yes, you read that right, in the face. The mental rehabilitation took years, and I still battle PTSD and depression daily. Yet, the stage is where I come alive, making a room full of strangers laugh and momentarily forget their troubles. Through this podcast, I want to share my journey of returning to the stage, my second chance at life. You'll hear from guests who drop in to share their stories, and together, we'll explore what keeps us all on this wild ride called life.

    New Episode every Weds.

Hopefully this podcast will turn into a Netflix special!!

  • Anna Rhodes, I Have This Uterus Just Lying Around.
    Jun 6 2024

In this episode, we tackle the subjects of depression, overcoming fears, and chasing dreams despite life's challenges. Traditionally, pregnancy involves three parties: the couple and the doctor. Some might consider my views traditional, but I believe this is the proper approach. Yet, this pregnancy was extraordinary; she aimed to bestow the gift of life upon a couple who couldn't conceive naturally. In the South, women seeking pregnancy often confront hurdles, sometimes needing to consult senators and governors. Our guest today, Anna Rhodes, opted to become a surrogate, jokingly remarking that her uterus was 'just lying around.' Enjoy the episode as we share laughter, shed tears, and explore deep topics. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.

  • Daryl Felsberg is All Business, Comedy Business
    May 22 2024

This week, I had the pleasure of chatting with Darryl Felsberg, a comedic force since his start in the Texas Panhandle back in 2000. Like many comedians, an open mic was his gateway to a world of laughs, and what a journey it's been! In our talk, we delve into his past, peek into his future, and even get down to the nitty-gritty of comedy's business side. It turns out, there's a whole lot more to comedy than just penning punchlines, and we cover it all in this episode.

  • Marquita Seifried Teacher/Mail Order Ventriloquist
    May 10 2024

II'd like to introduce you to my friend, Marquita Seifried. She's a newcomer to the comedy scene but has practiced ventriloquism since childhood. After ordering a mail-order kit to learn ventriloquism, she's now retired from teaching and is focused on bringing joy and laughter into her life by making people laugh with her ventriloquist friends.
