Breaking the Cycle of Addiction

Recent research highlights the effectiveness of Disulfiram, an aversive agent, in treating severe alcohol use disorder (AUD) when combined with addiction-focused therapy. The study tracked 45 patients from 2011 to 2023, revealing that half maintained abstinence for at least a year, while also noting the importance of addressing the broader public health issue of AUD, which affects 400 million people globally.
