  • Box2Box - Melbourne Victory manager Arthur Diles, Jamie Jackson on Manchester clubs’ despair
    May 5 2025

Box2Box, with Rob Gilbert and Michael Edgley!
Melbourne Victory’s start to the season did not go as expected, plunged into the unknown after Patrick Kisnorbo’s shock departure before Christmas. Arthur Diles has taken his opportunity, and joins the show having steered the club to an elimination final against the Wanderers on Saturday.

The seasons of Manchester’s big two clubs have also not gone as hoped: for City, the end of an era after ceding the Premier League; at United, another new manager and even greater depths plumbed. The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson returns with uncertain off-seasons ahead.

Liverpool’s 20th English League title has been apparent for some time, but that did nothing to dull the celebrations as the title was sealed with four games to spare. Former Red Stephen Warnock joins Rob & Derek Dyson just hours after witnessing the scenes at Anfield, first hand.
Auckland FC also lifted silverware this week, the A-League Men’s premiership at the first time of asking. Daniel Garb casts his expert eye over their achievement - and less gratifying stories, like Macarthur’s legal case and the APL’s belt-tightening.
