Hosts Berly and LA tackle Season 1, Episode 5 of Supernatural, and LA opens with "I don't mess with that shit!" because Bloody Mary legends traumatized her as a kid (relatable).
The episode starts in Toledo, Ohio where three girls play truth or dare, and young Lily gets dared to say "Bloody Mary" three times in a mirror. Her dad Steven Shoemaker starts seeing a creepy figure in every reflective surface in their very mirror-heavy house (seriously, way too many mirrors), and ends up dead in the bathroom with his eyes liquefied into blood. Yikes.
Sam's having nightmares about Jessica burning on the ceiling and refuses to talk about it (tortured soul Sam is back!). The boys investigate and discover that Bloody Mary isn't just coming after anyone—she's targeting people guilty of causing someone's death. They meet bitchy-but-smart Charlie who appropriately gets Dean and Sam's numbers (smart moves, girl!), and her friend Jill who stupidly does Bloody Mary to prove it's not real and immediately dies.
Episode Highlights:
- LA's cousin scaring the absolute shit out of her with a "behind you!" prank
- The hosts debating whether they should have waited until after the wake to show up
- Berly insisting Sam's reflective shirt buttons needed to go (for safety!)
- Dean bribing the sassy morgue attendant with Sam's poker winnings
- The creepy ring-style mirror crawl that had major horror movie vibes
- Sam revealing he had nightmares about Jessica dying BEFORE she actually died (guilt intensifies)
- Dean being the knight in shining armor and smashing mirrors (14 years bad luck, boys!)
The hosts dive into the lore of Mary Tudor (the OG Bloody Mary) who earned her nickname by burning hundreds of Protestants at the stake. Brutal, but probably not the inspiration for the sleepover game.
"Lollipops and candy canes" - Sam's response when Dean asks what he dreamed about
