The India-based Bishnoi gang, accused last year by the RCMP of orchestrating a campaign of violence and intimidation against Sikh activists in Canada, was listed as a terrorist entity by the federal government on Monday. The owner of Jak and Jill’s, a children’s consignment shop in Pitt Meadows, has been dealing for years with vandalism, drug paraphernalia, and even human waste left at her storefront. But last week, after confronting a man she says was causing trouble, her store was deliberately set on fire. In Parliament, MP Scott Anderson criticized the government and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for ordering the cull of around 400 ostriches without sufficient transparency or consultation with the farm operators.
