Beyond Tribe and Nation: A World-Sized Love
“Our loyalties must transcend our race, our tribe, our class, and our nation; and this means we must develop a world perspective.”
— Martin Luther King Jr.
From the very beginning, God told Abraham,
“In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3)
Love was never meant to be rationed out to those closest to us.
Scripture doesn’t give us an order of love—it gives us the direction to love everyone.
Jesus showed us that our neighbor is not defined by similarity, citizenship, or closeness, but by compassion. And when we narrow our loyalties, we shrink the gospel.
Hope expands as love expands.
And when we look beyond tribe and nation, we begin to see others not as strangers to fear, but as neighbors God already loves.
Scripture doesn’t tell us who to love first.
It tells us who we must not leave out.
God loves the world.
And we are called to love it too.

Peace be with you.
