Bedtime Stories For Grownups

De: Kristin
  • Resumen

  • Bedtime Stories For Grownups is a series of whimsical scenes from the stuff of dreams that is intended to be a portal into dreamland. There is no plot to follow and no sense to make of anything - simply descriptions of dreamscapes to help you find your way there. Please note that some listeners may find some of the content a little dark and unsettling. These tales are told with humility - and with respect. Any descriptive similarity to actual persons or events is unintentional and entirely coincidental. Soundscape by Alpha Jetplane Music.

Knocks me right out

This is a strange podcast. it is a bit dark but I have suffered no nightmares or anything from it.
I generally cannot remember finishing one but sometimes I do, and it's still amazing.

Perfect to lull you to sleep

Her calm soothing voice with the extended gaps in the story sends me off to sleep in a few minutes.

The voice and music are very well suited and has enough clarity I can turn the volume very low.

Actually helped me sleep

No abrupt volume change. No voice change. No tracking necessary. Just a smattering of odd, barely linking, thoughts that are most definitely representative of a dreamlike atmosphere.

Dark, unsettling content

At first glance this seemed like a great collection. The narrator’s voice is clear and consistent & the editing seems to be professionally done with appropriate music and volume levels etc.
I began to listen to the first story and was really surprised to find it immediately stark, cold & alarming. I guess the title “The End of the World” should have given it away, but I expected it to be kind of a semi-pleasant send off when it was actually apocalyptic. I stopped listening at ‘falling airplane debris’ and moved on to the next story. That one was full of family chaos; rampant alcoholism, unhappiness, resentment, etc. Am now noticing how the music eerily ebbs & swells while the narrator’s tone seems taunting.
Dropped into a few more but they were all full of suffering, fear, violence, animal cruelty, war scenes etc. The story titles are not mysterious, they’re literal. The mental images are disturbing & not something I want in my mind as I fall asleep. Can’t imagine who would… honestly seems like the beginning of a horror film. Listen at your own risk.
