    Mar 16 2026

This week, we look at how Jesus promises that the merciful will be shown mercy. What does Jesus mean when He says merciful, and how does it apply to us in our day? We'll look at Jesus' example when He calls Matthew to follow Him in Matthew 9 and what it may look like for us to be challenged to show mercy in the same way Jesus does.

  • Blessed Are Those Who Hunger and Thirst For Righteousness
    Mar 9 2026

In this episode of Becoming More Like Jesus, we continue our journey through the Beatitudes by exploring Jesus’ words in Gospel of Matthew 5:6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

What does it really mean to hunger and thirst for righteousness? Is Jesus talking about perfect rule-following, or something deeper?

In this conversation, we explore the biblical meaning of righteousness—living in right relationship with God and with others. Looking at Jesus’ teaching throughout the Gospel of Matthew, we see how He challenged the rule-focused righteousness of the Pharisees and called His followers to something far greater: hearts that truly long for God’s Kingdom.

Together we’ll reflect on the tension between rule-following and genuine transformation, the danger of focusing on others’ faults instead of our own hearts, and what it looks like to truly desire a world shaped by God’s ways.

When we begin to crave right relationship with God and others the way we crave food and water, Jesus promises something remarkable—we will be satisfied.

Join us as we continue learning what it means to live the upside-down life of the Kingdom and become more like Jesus.

  • Blessed Are the Meek
    Mar 2 2026

In this episode of Becoming More Like Jesus, we continue our journey through the Beatitudes by exploring Jesus’ words in Gospel of Matthew 5:5: “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”

What does it really mean to be meek? And why would the meek inherit the earth?

Looking back to Book of Psalms 37 and forward to the promise of restoration in Book of Isaiah 60–61, we see that meekness isn’t weakness—it’s humble trust in God. It’s knowing our place before Him, resisting the pull of pride, and choosing surrender over self-promotion.

Through the example of Jesus in Gospel of John 6 and the beautiful humility hymn of Epistle to the Philippians 2, we’re reminded that Christ Himself modeled true meekness—refusing earthly glory in favor of the Father’s will.

If you’ve ever wrestled with pride, craved recognition, or struggled to “aim lower,” this episode is for you. Together, we’ll consider practical steps toward humility and what it looks like to inherit the kind of kingdom Jesus promises.

Join us as we seek to become more like Jesus—gentle, humble, and confident in the hope of His coming Kingdom.

  • Blessed Are Those Who Mourn
    Feb 16 2026

In this episode of Becoming More Like Jesus, we continue our journey through the Beatitudes by reflecting on Jesus’ words: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4).

We explore what it truly means to mourn in the way Jesus describes—not only grieving loss, pain, and suffering, but also mourning over sin and the ways our lives fall short of the Kingdom of Heaven. From personal grief to honest repentance, Jesus meets us in our sorrow with His presence, His people, and His hope.

Drawing from Scripture, including Romans 5 and Romans 8, we talk about how suffering, when surrendered to God, can be transformed into perseverance, character, and ultimately hope. Mourning in Christ is not despair—it is lamenting with hope, trusting that God is at work even when life is painful.

This episode invites you to reflect on your own places of mourning, recognize Jesus as your comforter, and practice a simple breath prayer throughout the week as you hold your grief before Him.

Whether you are grieving loss, wrestling with repentance, or simply weary from life, this episode reminds us that we are not alone—and that Jesus promises comfort now and eternal hope in the renewal of Heaven and Earth.
