This got WAAAAAY too close to a soap opera, for me... I've stuck with it for the following couple episodes and it doesn't seem to continue in that vein; but the whole 'romantic affair' now just feels cheap, rushed, and grimey; and just detracts from the whole series, to put that angle on a main narrative voice.

[SPOILER ALERT]

... There isn't even a big payoff, the series just resolves it immediately with a quick admission; destroying any potential for a narrative squeeze, or logical analysis (as opposed to the "steamy" "romance" scene[s]).

I might say 'it could've been framed/written/narrated differently to suit a different target audience'... but who knows?... maybe I just wouldn't want that soap-show either way. 🤷‍♂️

Leave the Romance Scenes for the Romance Novels.
