With wall to wall media coverage and astronomical figures, we brought in our BRC experts to make sense of it all, using our exclusive numbers on shop prices, shop vacancies, footfall, as well as broader economic analysis, to give you the key insights and analysis on what it means for retailers and consumers.

We also talk to Daniel Arda from Grant Thornton LLP about their efforts to bring refugees into meaningful work, and how other retail businesses can do the same.

  • 11: Episode 11 - Welcome to the Metaverse
    Jul 12 2022
In this episode of Radio Retail we talk to David Josephs, Head of Industry for Retail at Meta.

Eyebrows were raised last October when Facebook changed it's name to Meta, representing a statement of intent for the company and it's focus on the Metaverse. But many people still don't understand much about the Metaverse, and for us as retailers, the role we can play in it. We talked to David to find out how retailers are already experimenting in VR, AR, and what the future holds.

We also speak to Richard Brassey from Barclays, on the increasing regulatory focus on flexible payment options, and how retailers can make sure they are being responsible lenders.

With the cost of living crisis already upon us, this is a topic becoming more and more critical to understand, and you can see our webinar on the topic here: https://app.livestorm.co/brc-1/responsible-lending-and-affordability-is-it-time-to-rethink-your-strategy

  • 5: Episode 5 - Can Retail Bridge The Diversity Gap?
    Feb 9 2022
We're back with Episode 5 and tackling our biggest issue yet.

Diversity and Inclusion needs to be built into every level of our businesses practices and wider society, but we aren't always clear how we go from talking the talk, to making positive changes in our workplace.

That's why we talked to Kelly Thomson from RPC, Partner specialising in workplace equality and host of acclaimed podcast The Fix, to find out what changes we can make today to improve hiring practices, workplace culture, and everything in between. We also talked to our Chief Executive Helen Dickinson OBE about the BRC's Diversity & Inclusion Charter, a pledge and framework to help businesses achieve their D&I goals and create more vibrant and empowered workplaces.

We've also included a run-down of all the headline stats and trends from across the industry, including shop price inflation, shop vacancies, footfall and which retail spending categories led the way in January.

We hope you enjoy the episode!
